We require 48 hours notice for cancellations. Less than 48 hours notice will result in no refund.

A limited number of scholarships are available. Inquire for application info.

STAR GAZING & COSMIC TALES
WITH ASTRONOMER JOE JORDAN
FRIDAY, NOV. 14

Location:   Natural Bridges State Park (meet at gate where Delaware Ave. and Natural Bridges Dr. intersect)

Join local legend Joe Jordan, NASA/Cabrillo/SJSU astronomy and solar-energy educator/researcher, for a fascinating evening of "true tall tales of the universe" and "cosmic ecology."  We will drink hot chocolate while we discover the lights, motions, colors, and phenomena of the night sky, looking at constellations, planets, nebulae, star clusters, galaxies, and more!  Joe has an amazing green laser that makes a sharp, brilliant beam that looks like it goes all the way out to space, allowing him to clearly point to various areas of the sky.  Bring some warm clothes and dress in layers.  Depending on conditions, we'll probably be out there for an hour or more of night time fun and we will watch the nearly-full moon rise!   

ELKHORN SLOUGH KAYAK EXCURSION
SATURDAY, OCT. 4

Location:  Kayak Connection, Moss Landing (2370 Highway 1. Approx. 30 min. south of Santa Cruz, transportation not provided)

Take this unique opportunity to explore an amazing area by kayak!  Elkhorn Slough harbors the largest tract of tidal salt marsh in California outside of San Francisco Bay. This ecological treasure at the center of the Monterey Bay coastline provides much-needed habitat for hundreds of species of plants and animals, including more than 340 species of birds.  You will team up with our experienced kayak volunteers to have an unforgettable experience.

SUNSHINE  KAYAK  PADDLE
SUNDAY, OCT. 12

Location:   UCSC Dock, Aldo’s side of SC Harbor  (790 Mariner Park Wy.)

Time:   4-6pm            Cost:   $20(Per person. Please only one companion per participant due to limited space)
Team up with experienced kayakers for an adventure on the Monterey Bay. Join us for a beautiful sunset, and plenty of fresh air and ocean spray.  No experience necessary.  This is one of our most popular activities, so sign up early to reserve a spot!

PIZZA PARTY FUNDRAISER
WEDNESDAY, OCT. 15

Location:   Woodstock Pizza (710 Front Street, SC)

Eat some delicious pizza and support Shared Adventures, while mingling with Shared Adventures participants, volunteers, and staff!   Menu also includes sandwiches, salads, and even dessert pizzas.  Woodstock will donate up to 25% of sales to our program (last time you helped us make over $500!).  You will need to bring a flier for us to receive funds; see Adventure News or contact us.

PUMPKIN PATCH, CARVING, & RANCH-STYLE BBQ
SATURDAY, OCT. 18

Location:  Blue Hen Ranch (275 Apple Valley Ln., Watsonville)

Time:   3-6:30pm            Cost:   $7/person (includes BBQ dinner.) 
Don’t miss the chance to have a pre-Halloween adventure at this gorgeous ranch!  Pick your own pumpkin from the garden and then carve it.  We will also offer spooky arts and crafts, visits with the horses, games like ping pong and horse-shoe tossing, and you will even have the option to take a splash in the heated pool and hot tub.   To top it all off, we will enjoy a delicious down-home barbecue dinner.
 
ADAPTIVE CYCLING & BBQ IN THE PARK
SUNDAY, OCT. 19

Location:   Vasona Park, Los Gatos

Time:   11am-3pm            Cost:   $20/person (includes lunch.  Companions $5 for lunch only)
Parking Fee:   $6 (Free with display of disabled placard)
We are partnering with Bay Area Outreach & Recreation Program (BORP) to bring you this opportunity to ride adaptive bikes in a beautiful setting!  We will use handcycles, recumbent trikes, and other adaptive cycles, so everyone of all abilities and levels of fitness can ride (standard bicycles are also welcome to take part).  After an orientation, we'll have options of rides of different lengths for everyone.  We will also feast on a hot barbecue lunch. Vasona is a 150-acre park with a scenic lake, miniature railroad, and carousel.

HALLOWEEN DANCE PARTY & COSTUME CONTEST
SATURDAY, OCT. 25

Join us for an evening of fun, live rock music, and ghoulish surprises!  Dress up and enter the costume contest to win prizes.  Boogie with old friends and meet new ones.  Fun for all ages!  Scary snacks will be provided.  Co-Sponsored by Community Options. 

INDOOR ROCK CLIMBING
FRIDAY, NOV. 7

Location:   Pacific Edge Climbing Gym (104 Bronson St, SC)

Try out the fun and challenging sport of rock climbing in a supportive environment, in one of the Central Coast’s most renowned climbing gyms, with experienced belayers to guide you!  We will have our own private room with 1,500 square feet of climbing terrain.

‘YOUNG ARTISTS STUDIO’ ART CLASS
ONGOING, EVERY TUES.

Location:  Branciforte Small Schools Campus, Palazzo Studio, SC

This inclusive after-school art program is for young people with and without special needs, ages 12-18.  Students can work with printmaking, painting, ceramics, photography, beading, and more, as well as learn about master artists, take field trips to view local art, and participate in art shows.  New students welcome any time.

Support Shared Adventures and this great local music venue while taking in some jammin’ Grateful Dead tunes performed by this very talented cover band.  A portion of proceeds will go to our program.
